Capitals 5, Kings 0
The Washington Capitals continued to flex their offensive muscles, routing the Los Angeles Kings 5-0 on Sunday for their ninth straight home victory.
Lars Eller, Marcus Johansson, Brett Connolly, T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams all lit the lamp for Washington, which has an NHL-best 78 points. Backup goalie Philipp Grubauer stopped 38 shots to earn his third shutout of the season.
The Capitals honored Alexander Ovechkin before the game for reaching the 1,000-point milestone last month, and the veteran winger got in on the fun with a second-period assist to raise his career total to 1,014.
Rangers 4, Flames 3
Chris Kreider scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves as the New York Rangers defeated the Calgary Flames 4-3.
Kreider used Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman as a screen and whistled a wrist shot past the catching glove hand of goaltender Brian Elliot to break the 2-all tie.
Rick Nash, Michael Grabner and Jesper Fast also scored for the Rangers.
Oilers 1, Canadiens 0 (shootout)
Leon Draisaitl scored the shootout winner to lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 1-0 road win against the Montreal Canadiens.
Al Montoya stopped 32 shots for the Canadiens (30-16-8) while Cam Talbot made 22 saves for Edmonton (29-18-8), which snapped a three-game losing streak. (Editing by Andrew Both)
