Samajwadi Party-Congress will transform Uttar Pradesh together: Rahul Gandhi

AGRA: Crediting Akhilesh Yadav for working in Uttar Pradesh “with all his heart”, Rahul Gandhi on Friday in a joint road show in Agra said the work to totally transform Uttar Pradesh was incomplete and both of them will do so if their alliance comes to power.

Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi’s three-hour long joint road show in Agra city, which lies at the cusp of the West and Braj regions of Uttar Pradesh, sent out a strong statement from the alliance ahead of the crucial Phase-I of polls on February 11. This polling day in 73 seats of West UP will see a parallel road show by the two leaders in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency.

This will be a repeat of a road show done by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Varanasi last year. “This will be a direct challenge thrown to the PM as voters cast their ballot in East UP,” a source said.

Speaking to supporters after the road show, Gandhi said he and Akhilesh were ‘yuva’ aiming to change UP. “We will change UP. After five years, you will say you are not able to recognise UP. In last 5 years, Akhilesh ne dil se kaam kiya hai.

Par UP ko badalne ka kaam abhi baaki hai. Hum dono milkar UP ko badlenge (Akhilesh worked with all heart in last 5 years but work to transform UP is incomplete. We will now together transform UP),” Gandhi said. He said both of them will chase away BJP and RSS from UP and said he would not like to speak anything on BSP as “they are not even in the fight”.

The 12-km road show got good response and the city was plastered with joint Rahul-Akhilesh hoardings. “Rahul Gandhi and I have come together to also change the path of national politics. BJP only spreads poison,” Akhilesh Yadav told supporters.
