ITC, ICICI Bank, SBI among most active stocks in terms of volume on Thursday

NEW DELHI: Taking cues from Budget announcements, there were plenty of stock-specific actions on Dalal Street on Thursday.

Shares of Idea cellular continued to make waves on possible merger between the firm and London-based Vodafone Group. The Indian telecom firm was the most active in terms of shares traded at 4.24 crore. It was followed by ITC (1.69 crore), ICICI Bank (1.39 crore), SBI (0.88 crore), Bank of Baroda (0.68 crore), Ashok Leyland (0.67 crore), Hindalco Inds (0.58 crore), Bharti Infratel (0.50 crore), PNB (0.47 crore), DLF (0.46 crore).

The NSE Nifty index was trading 14.7 points down at 8701.7 in the afternoon trade around 12.10 pm (IST) , while BSE Sensex was trading 26.91 points down at 28114.73 around the same time .

In the Nifty50 pack, Idea Cellular (up 3.91 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (up 3.01 per cent) , Aurobindo Pharm (up 2.27 per cent) , NTPC (up 1.96 per cent) , Infosys (up 1.83 per cent) , Axis Bank (up 1.78 per cent) and Dr Reddys Labs (up 1.76 per cent) were trading in green in the afternoon trade.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries (down -3.17 per cent) , M&M (down -2.89 per cent) , IndusInd Bank (down -2.50 per cent) , Bosch (down -2.47 per cent) and Tata Motors (down -1.98 per cent) were among top losers in the Nifty index.
