Restoration of duty drawback rates on babies garments would increase the competitiveness of the garment exporting units, said Raja M Shanmugham, President,Tirupur Exporters’ Association. Hailing the move, he said the duty drawback rate has been restored to 7.6 per cent (from 7.3 per cent) and the value cap to ₹30 (up by ₹1) with immediate effect. “Exporters are operating on wafer thin margins. This will help the sector compete in the global market,” he said.
